Migrating from PAYG to CSP
- SHI will help you set up your new CSP subscription within your existing Azure Active Directory tenant. (If you prefer separate tenants, we can discuss options as well).
- The user account completing the transfer must have Azure RBAC owner access on both subscriptions.
- All resources must be based on the Azure Resource Manager model and cannot be the older Azure classic deployment model. Any older resources must be migrated to Azure Resource Manager prior to migration.
Moving from a PAYG to a CSP subscription does not currently support a billing transfer from Microsoft, but instead requires a Resource Move to the new subscription. This process can be nuanced per service and can result in service interruption. SHI provides a CSP migration credit to assist customers with this process.
To complete the Resource Move yourself, see the following instructions:
- Review your resource list to determine if all of your resources support the move operation
- Review service specific limitations when moving resources
- Register any required resource providers in the destination subscription
- Verify your service quotas in the destination subscription meet your requirements
- Combine dependent resources into the same resource group
- Execute the resource move
For customers that require additional assistance during this migration process, SHI provides a CSP Migration credit. This credit enables our cloud engineers to work directly with you to validate your environment prior to the resource move and assist you with up to $5,000 of migration assistance.
Activities supported under this CSP Migration credit include:
- Assessment of migration readiness
- Configuration of the source or destination subscriptions to support migration readiness
- Execution of resource move
- Troubleshooting related to resource move
- Additionally, for complex environments, SHI can apply this $5,000 credit towards a custom Azure Landing Zone or custom Azure Migration project to meet your specific requirements
